Sabine Geers-de Koning

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Sabine Geers. Though I never had the chance to meet her, her research was the cornerstone of my Ph.D. dissertation, which I have just successfully defended. Her work has left a lasting impact on many, myself included. My thoughts go out to her friends and family during this difficult time, hoping they find some solace in knowing the profound influence she had on the academic community. May she rest in peace.

Onlangs ontvingen we het trieste bericht over Sabine Geers. Sabine studeerde Communicatie- en Informatiewetenschappen aan ons Instituut tussen 2007 en 2011. Ze viel op door haar enthousiasme, goeie humeur en bevlogenheid voor het vak – een student die altijd veel meer wilde en deed dan het reguliere studieprogramma voorschreef. Dear Nick and Charlie de Koning, I remember Sabine always with a smile. Her radiant energy and kind and genuine consideration in interaction has been always felt fully by the person in front of her even in the shortest encounters. This has been my experience and this is how I remember Sabine, since I met her for the first time when I had just started, mid 2012, my PhD research at the Department of Communication Science at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
